Pythagoras lived in 500 B.C. and spent most of his life in Greece and Italy. He had a group of people that followed him around called Pythagoreans. The group, including Pythagoras, was known for their pure lives. He was interested in philosophy, but especially music and math. Pythagoras liked math and music because he said music is a noise that makes sense and math are rules that shows how the world works. He is famous for proving that the Pythagorean Theorem was true. Pythagoras had many crazy reasoning about numbers. He thought that one was the "number of reason" and that 2 was the "number of opinion." Interesting thoughts, don't you think? He also didn't eat any beans because he thought that they weren't pure enough.
